Verwarring rond de percolator

Het waren de Amerikanen in dit geval. Die zorgen weer eens voor verwarring. Wat bij ons een percolator genoemd wordt heet bij hun een espresso coffee pot of Moka pot. In Amerika hebben ze ook een percolator en dat apparaat blaast geen stoom door de koffie maar het brengt kokend water omhoog dat dan door de koffie sijpelt. Het schijnt dat deze percolator fnuikend voor de smaak van de koffie is omdat het de koffie kookt. Coffee boiled is coffee spoiled. Gekookte koffie is verloren koffie.

De Napolitaanse omkeerpot
Ook vond ik wat meer informatie over de Napolitaanse omkeerpot:
De Neopolitan flip is een speciale uitvoering van het filtersysteem. Bij dit systeem zit de koffie tussen de twee afzonderlijke compartimenten ingesloten. Water wordt in het onderste gedeelte van de pot opgewarmd. Als het bijna kookt wordt de pot omgedraaid waardoor het water door de koffie in de lege helft druppelt.
